[101 in 1001]

In the C household weve had a busy and productive weekend.  We planted hostas, caladium, and some impatiens in our front yard flower bed.  We grilled out and visited with family.  I helped my hubby start his next batch of homemade brew- a blackberry wheat beer!  We attended a baby shower and had swimming lessons.  AND, I got another few rows of my crochet blanket completed.  Phew!

I am loving my new crochet hobby.

All of these accomplishments get me thinking about everything I want to do and then I came across this [101 in 1001] project on my friend Kaleys blog Originally from Day Zero Project, it is a challenge to create a list of 101 things you would like to check off of your list in 1001 days.  So Ive set out to come up with 101 things to accomplish.  Id like to come up with a list that includes things my husband and I would like to accomplish as a family AND individually.  What an awesome project.  I cant wait to put our list together.  Id like to encourage each of you to take this challenge.  Take pictures, blog about it, and hopefully you may do some things you wouldnt have had the motivation to do otherwise.  Ill be posting my list as soon as I finish it!

Good luck!

Mystery Solved.

You can probably guess what happened Friday evening when I got home from work.. but I'll tell this story with pictures to keep things interesting.

Can anyone spot the missing dog bowl?  I'll give you a hint- it's about a foot and a half from where it normally sits..

And yes, if you were wondering, that IS my pasta bowl that Libby has been eating out of all day.

Apparently Libby pushed her bowl underneath of the hutch that sits in my dining room.
Mystery solved.

Here's a pic just for fun!  Two things wrong here- 1) Libby is not allowed on the couch and 2) Dominic has a death grip on Libby's tail.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Extra Shot of Espresso

ME: Hi, Id like a Venti Iced Caramel Macchiato with an extra shot of espresso please.

BARISTA: You know a Venti already comes with four shots, right?

Dont judge me.  I have a demanding full-time job, a vivacious toddler, a dog who acts like shes jacked up on pixie sticks, and a husband who works crazy hours.   I need my caffeine and I need it now.  Toss it with ice and hand me a straw!

In other news, this morning on the way to work my husband called me claiming that Libbys (the aforementioned dog) food bowl was missing.  He already searched everywhere and it was gone.  Let me set the scene for you: Libby and her belongings are confined to the downstairs of our home.  Although Libby is known to push her bowl around, she lacks both the opposable thumbs and the brainpower necessary to actually hide her bowl.  It could only be so many places.  Someone alert the authorities- a criminal has broken into our home during the night and taken only the dogs food bowl.

I had to get off the phone with him.  I was driving and the mental picture I was painting in my head had me in near hysterics.

Of what's to come..

It was fun for a while
There was no way of knowing
Like a dream in the night,
Who can say where we’re going?
Not a care in the world
Maybe I’m learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning

It’s funny how some things stick with you.  I read that little poem on the tag of a dress I bought probably eight or ten years ago and to this day I remember every word of it.  Those words felt true to me then and they feel true to me now.  In life, you learn that there are things you can’t change and sometimes you have to let go for your sanity.  Im giving myself a big reminder to not sweat the small stuff.  I have bigger things floating around in my head.

I have a little side project Ive been pondering over and dreaming of for some time now.  Im setting a couple personal goals for myself and the biggest one is to have step 1 of my project up and running by September.  What project?  Ill give you a clue- it *may* be something that starts with a little e-retail and ends one day with something that fills what I see as a void in this town... somewhere that promotes more than just big box baby items and encourages more of a natural, family-centered way of life.

Interested?  Is there a baby item you wish you could get your hands on but cant find it around here?  Ever wish you could get together with like-minded moms to swap ideas, advice, and your personal experience?  I would love to get some feedback and motherly thoughts :)

If all of this sounds good, please do these things for me: suggest this blog to other parents you know, send your thoughts to caterpillarfamily@yahoo.com , or leave them here!

Keep your eye out for the launch :D

Thanks!

Cupcakes and Coffee

What a wonderful weekend Ive had.  Really its been great.  I had my Shutterfly photo book party in Saturday night so I spent Friday evening getting ready for that.  After Dominic went to bed I baked a batch of strawberry cupcakes that had my whole house smelling delicious, then I finished uploading pictures that Ive taken the last few weeks.  I had some really cute ones I took of D at the softball field one night my husband played a pickup game.  OH how I love outside pictures!  That could be one of my favorite parts of the weather growing nicer- the fabulous lighting we get when were spending so much time outdoors.
The party on Saturday was a success.  I had a great time and I think the rest of the ladies did too.  For most of us there with children it was a chance to get out alone and have some much needed girl talk.  No to toot my own horn, but the cupcakes I made looked and tasted professional!  I may be on to something here.  Not to mention that they were about a million times easier to make than the birthday cake I slaved over (twice if you know the story) back in December.  Ughhh the horror.  I swore up and down I would never, I repeat NEVER, take that on again.  Now Im thinking maybe Ill just do cupcakes instead!  It is possible that my memory of the disastrous 24 hours leading up to my sweet sweet childs first birthday party has somewhat faded.  Enough about cake..

Sunday we had swimming lessons with the Poags.  Our instructor is clueless but the boys have a blast splashing around in the water and thats all that matters.  After swim lessons I thought it might be nice to stay out of the house a little while longer so that my hubby could sleep in a quiet house.  It was a beautiful day and I had a hankerin for some coffee.  Dominic and I headed on over to Starbucks where I had a Grande Iced cafĂ© Americano and he had an organic vanilla milk and shortbread cookie.  It was so nice.  We sat outside just him and I, enjoying our treat.

On to the highlight of my Sunday- hubby got a wild hair and decided he was making us chicken parmesan for dinner.. yum.  Chicken, angel hair pasta, marinara, and cheese, oh my!  Not only do I love pasta night, Dominic shovels in spaghetti like no other kind of food.  That in itself makes my night.  Then my full boy had a nice bath and went to sleep after only drinking 2oz of his bottle- and slept all night.  This.  This is what happens when he eats.  I am so happy because days like this are becoming more common and his days of near-fasting are becoming scarce.  Yay :)
I rounded out my weekend by finishing my Shutterfly order.  A photo book and 15 photo greeting cards for just over $2.  I saved nearly $70!  After my order went through I was given a code for $5 off my next order so did I just make $3??

First Post!

Ok here goes!  I won't do a whole big long back story.  The short version is that I'm a busy, full-time working mom of a toddler and a wife to a great husband.  Now, on to the fun stuff.  I love great baby and family products and I especially love getting great deals on the things I'd be buying anyway.  When I come across said deals, I'll post them here!  I am also very passionate about certain things, such as extended rear-facing for toddlers in car seats.  I also <3 babywearing!!  Although, for us I guess it's now considered "child" wearing *tear*.  I might post about things of that nature too- you're warned!

Here's a deal to start us off:
Shutterfly $10 off your purchase of $30 or more, offer ends May 19th 2010.  This offer can be used in combination with any other offer you may have!!

For those of you who know me, you know I'm a huge fan of Shutterfly.  I am even hosting a Photo Book party this Saturday to share tips and of course *FREE* goodies with some lucky ladies :)
